After using it last night at Largo, I am in love. However, it’s also hard to not be impressed after stepping up from the humble 8mp Rebel.

The controls are a little awkward and it’s ridiculously large for my tiny hands (…), but the picture and color quality is out of control. The only processing I’ve had to do in photoshop is resizing.

The only problem I’m having is that it’s a slippery slope of accessories. Having to spend $175 on a bloody 16gb memory card… and having to eventually spend $70 on an extra battery, a tripod/head, focusing screen… it’s insane.

I know I’m going to eventually have to figure out how to use the video, because it would be a damn shame to not put it to good use. Unfortunately, I havent used FCP since college, so I’m going to have to take a crash course on relearning it*.

… but it’s all worth it in the end, I can’t hate myself for spending this kind of money on something I love.

*PS. Anyone patient out there able to give me a crash course on the basics of shooting video/FCP? I will pay them in delicious hamburgers and/or tacos.
