Liezl’s Untitled Comedy Photography Book Project. I’ve finally started to set the wheels in motion to do something with all these photos, in the form of a coffee table photography book. Unfortunately I’m no copywriter, so it will be more of a pictorial of the current comedy scene. Also, unfortunately, I’ve lost 2 years worth of photos, so I am relegated to using pictures I’ve taken from 2010 to present.

Guaranteed content:

  • UCB-LA and UCB-NY (I’ll finally be going in October! Hopefully!)
  • The Paul F. Tompkins Show
  • Midnight Show
  • Benson Interruption
  • SFSketchfest
  • Bridgetown Comedy Festival
  • Pardcastathon/NNF
  • possibly other ongoing established shows around LA, space permitting (super serious, meltdown, tigerlily, etc)

Considering I have all access to UCB and can probably ask around for access to other things… What would you like to see included? More backstage photos? Podcast tapings? If it’s within reason and enough people want it, I’ll find a way to cover it.

I’ve already ordered my paper sample book, I’m going fancy with it. I’m not fucking around guys. This is going to look nice. My bachelors degree in graphic design won’t have it any other way.

Other Book Specs:

  • about 80 100 pages
  • About $80
  • Blurb DOES ship internationally for less than $10.
  • hardcover image wrap
  • full color photos with an introduction of the show and show, performer, date caption.
  • tentative deadline of December to send to print.
  • I will be designing and publishing it myself, and will be sold through Blurb, so it will be printed on demand. Unless you want to front me $5000 to preprint copies.

I’m essentially making this because enough people have expressed interest, and am opening it up to you guys to throw in some input. Feel free to reply here or click through the picture to A Special Thing and post some input on the thread.

Grace tipped me off last night that there’s a musical consisting of just 80s rock. This makes my musical and monster ballad loving heart happy.
